„Religion in a changing world“
18th August – 30th August 2008, Szeged, Hungary
The third international summer intensive programme in the Study of religions is supported by the European Union Erasmus Lifelong Learning Programme. Prospected participating institutes are from the following countries: Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia.
The Summer IP is focused on contemporary issues of the academic study of religions in the concerned region. These issues will be treated in various ways: lectures, students’ presentations, discussions, excursions and workshops. Participating students are encouraged, but not obliged to give a short (15-20min.) presentation relating to some of the following topics:
Intercultural contact and religious transformation
Challenges of the 21st century: Religion and modern technologies
Religious aspects of the relationships of majorities to ethnical minorities
New approaches and methods in the study of religions
Nationalism and religions in Central Europe
New Religious Movements in Central Europe
Adaptation of Eastern religions in Central Europe
Situation of Islam in Europe
Science and religion – Creationism vs. Evolutionism
Contributions submitted during the Summer IP will be published electronically. Apart from the studying programme there will be also excursions to monuments and places related to religious issues.
For the student participants following cost are fully covered:
Ø Refund of travel costs from the place of the home institution to Szeged and return journey
Ø Accommodation in students hostel (double rooms), including breakfast. The hostel is situated in walking distance from the faculty where the lectures will take place.
Ø Subsistence money. Costs related to excursions (travel costs, entrances)
Lecturers will be situated in single hotel rooms, will be paid travels and will receive subsistence.
